Moving from iPhone5 to Pixel

I am in the process of moving my wifes *ahem* from her iPhone to the Pixel. However I am kinda stuck at texts. She "has" to have them (why is beyond my comprehension) and we don't have iTunes running (neither of us can remember her password). She hasn't backed her phone up in forever and she is on an outdate iOS (6 I think). Plus her phone is completely full with no working space.

I hate iCrap. Don't like messing with it at all. So if someone could point me in the right direction without having to buy a bunch of software. I have her looking for her PW so maybe we can use the backup and move it and dig and use iSMS2droid...but I am not hopeful.

Oh and can I disable iMessages and still get the necessary data from the phone and move it to the Pixel?

Have I mentioned I hate iPhones?

First, get the texts off the phone before disabling iMessage.

Second, ask in iMore | The #1 site for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and all things Apple! how to output the iMessages as text or SMS (either one will do), or have her forward the messages to her new number (you'll need a new number at least temporarily), or ask your carrier to transfer the texts.

If she can convert them to texts (an xml file), SMS Backup & Restore can probably "restore" them to an Android phone. (You may have to load the file into a text editor and message it a bit.)

There are apps that can do it in one step, but they're not frees, as far as I can see.

If its iOS8 and up...says it will move it. However she is on six...*smacks head*...

All this headache for text messages she doesnt even read. I am nuts.

Lol, send her back she is broken... If you are on Verizon download the Verizon texting app it actually backs them up to the cloud and will automatically restore them on the new phone

He is...but I don't see any major changes coming. I am luke warm at the pair coming but holding judgment until after next season to see how its all handled. CTT was an absolute disaster but Fickell has never had "average" athletes being at OSU since 02.

I found she actually updated the phone (to 9.3.3 no less). I am ecstatic as the Pixel transfer method should work. I will be doing it this evening when I can have the phone a few hours in a row to do the data transfer.

Using the enclosed data plug with the pixel should work for imessages and texts.

Ok...did it. The included plug DID work (I was surprised). Data move took about 5-8 minutes. However it took almost two HOURS for all the texts to populate the messenger screen. They all did move over and granted, there were texts back from January 2013. She was pleased and I was too.

So far so good!
