When typing using the touchscreen (not hardware keyboard) either in portrait and or landscape, how do you move left and right (or up and down, I suppose) between letters? For example, lets say you're typing, and notice you made a type a few words ago. How do you move left in order to edit that word, since there is no trackball or optical trackpad?

With the Evo, there are directional buttons actually on the virtual keyboard that you can use. With the iPhone, you hold down on the text, and a magnifying glass appears with which you can drag around to jump to different sections on the text (see image below). But with the Epic, neither of these features are available, so how do you do it? How do you do it with the Vibrant and Captivate, since they dont even have physical keyboards?

Vibrant and Captivate have virtual directional keypads. I dont know how to enable them however.

The leaked Froyo 2.2 firmware does have something similar to what the iPhone has. It even has the pinch to zoom out feature for the home screen, just like what Sense UI has. So hopefully we will get these features in the next update.

Whoah! Where did you find out about this Froyo 2.2 firmware? Can you send a link, I an interested in taking a look...

Yeah, just touch where you want the cursor. Double tap a word if you want to change or edit it.

ps. Watch the swype videos and get good with it. Faster than typing for most once you get the hang of it.

No, I dont mean merely taping on where you want the cursor to be. I already knew about that. But I mean physically moving the curser left and right, character by character. Is this possible without using the physical keyboard?

In SWYPE drag from the SWYPE button (under the shift) to the SYM button.

This pulls up the the direction arrows. :)
