Moving Live Photos from iPhone to Note 8 (converting to Motion Photos)

Hello all,

After owning an iPhone for two years, I've decided to move to Android due basically every feature any Android user mocks an iPhone user about.

Anyway, I should be able to transfer all of my contacts, app data and whatever else fine, however I was wondering about my Live Photos.

I was reading about Samsung's take on this, Motion Photos, however couldn't find any guide on how I could convert my existing Live Photos into Motion Photos.

Do you know if this can be done?

Thanks!

Maybe the Motion Stills app would be a partial way to solve the problem? I have not tried it, though.

Then once on the Samsung phone, you could try to see if the GIF could be manipulated by the Motion Photo feature. Not sure if that would work based upon the Motion Photo description as the way its described sounds like the video has to be initiated on the phone, and then made into a Motion Photo. I'll try to see if that works with my wife's Note 8.

Others may have more ideas or experience to help further.

Hey Trees,

That's a good idea thanks, I may do that with the few loops/animations I have.
But for the bulk of my live photos, converting them to a GIF and back again would result in a severe quality loss and probably wouldn't be worth doing.

Great idea though, thanks for the suggestion.

I don't know how Apple stores them, but if you can download them onto a PC and then upload them to gdrive that would be easiest.
as for sharing you can check what they do if they are out into Google photos or if you can just download them onto your phone. lots of sharing options

What about Google Photos? Just download the app on both phones and done.
It turns the live photos into motion photos. I am not sure about any loss of quality though for that.

Ah, didn't think Google Photos did that.

Thanks for that, I'll be trying that when I switch over and see if it works.
