I just received my edge and want to make sure the transfer from the iPhone to the edge goes smooth. I've had android phones in the past and have always had issues with iMessage deregistering. Is there anything to help avoid that issue?

Are there any other things to do before switching over?

Are there any must have apps for the phone?

It's been discussed recently and rather than try to organize everything, here is a pile of information!

Package Disabler Pro is definitely an app you'll want to disable bloatware. Can't delete it, but you can shut it down for good.

Also, use Samsung Smart Switch to make things easy when switching over.

turn off iMessage and Facetime on iPhone and then go here and deregister your phone number.

so i followed these instructions before switching my phone and i'm not receiving messages from someone who has the iphone.

What do you think could be causing that?

It can take up to 24 hours to break free of the Apple ecosystem. If you're in a hurry you can call them and cream the whole connection but it may still take 24 hours.

You have to tell your friends and family to delete all previous conversations you had with them on imessage. Then a new text will see that their is no imessage available at your end. Nothing else will work. Trust me, I have both systems and swap often. it's annoying as all hell.
