mp3 ringtone keeps resetting to default

This is really frustrating....I thought this would have been fixed when I went from the Galaxy S6 to the S9.

First off I have NO EXTERNAL SD CARD on my new S9. I copied an mp3 file into the /ringtones directory off the root of the internal memory. I then changed the ringtone in the menu settings by pressing ADD then selecting the mp3 file. Everything seemed to work great. However throughout the day my ringtone keeps getting reset to the default VZW Airwaves ringtone.

Solution found. I have Volume Rocker Pro installed and everytime I would change the volume setting it would change the ringtone back to the default ringtone. The solution is for every preset (5 of them) I had to change the ringtone to the custom ringtone value. Now when I change the volume setting it does not reset the ringtone!
