Mugen 1950mAh Slim Extended Battery for HTC Rezound

Yeah.. I would love that extra power, but I really wanted a battery that fits in the phone 'as is'.
Just personal taste. I like the thickness of the phone without having to add any more girth.. but that's just me.

I see your point, though!

I agree, this phone doesn't need any more size added to it! Lol. I'm gonna look into this battery probably next week... payday lol.

On the stock battery, I'd only get about 6-8 at the most. 12 with the Mugen.
No, the new battery does not gray out the battery meter. It's just like the stock with just a little extra push of power. Everything looks and acts exactly the same, no bulky back, and was worth the buy to me!

Are you running stock or rooted?

However, it's been 12 hours, and I JUST got the battery is running low tone and message as I am typing this.

Keep in mind it takes a few charge cycles for lithium-ion batteries to be able to use their full capacity.

Just ordered one on Ebay for $43.95 plus free shipping. Got a West Coast business trip coming up in a couple weeks, so we'll see how long it holds out compared to the stock battery...

I finished the initial 12 hour charge, and used it briefly today ( a couple of hours of streaming). I can't give a full report on how much time I'll get out of it yet... but in answer to the above questions:

1.I only charge the battery with the charger, that works perfectly, though it seems to take slightly longer to charge.
2.Exact same size as the stock, so no bulging... fits perfectly.
3.Never felt hot, and I was streaming.

I just got it, so again, I don't know how long the average battery life is.

When you say you use only use the charger, are you talking about the stock USB charger that comes with the phone?

I had the extender original battery and I have the feeling of stronger signal reception with that extended cover than the standard is me or any of you with extended original cover feel the same...(excuse my English ) I have to say that mostly feel that on my workplace where Verizon signal is very weak

Rumor has it that Mugen is coming out with a bigger (capacity) battery for the Rezound. April release date but CS would not confirm size. If your on the fence with getting an extended battery.. Contact them first.

Ordered mine this morning. Will be interested to see how I like this compared to the extended I have been using.

This is kind of on topic just a different point of view. I too like the current form factor (I usea a Seido Active case). I want the extra capacity but also don't want to be swapping batteries/back as needed. My normal day the stock battery is just fine. When I travel I need more during my day. Instead of swapping batteries I picked up a Motorola P893 power pack (capacity is 1820 mAh). It's slim at about 1/8" by 4" or so. Has a short built in cord that fits around the battery and tucks in at the micro tip for storage. When I need to charge I move the charger to my front pocket take the short cord out and plug into the phone while still on my belt clip and charge it. At night use the stock rezound charger cable and stock wall plug into the P893 and it will series recharge both devices.

How quickly does the moto external battery charge the phone?

I get around 12-13hrs of moderate use email, some web browsing and phone calls. I am also rooted and using Juice Defender

My results were the opposite.

Well, my Mugen Power "1900" mAh (and I use that number skeptically) slim extended battery arrived and I've had a chance to run a comparative test on it. Charged it fully and used the phone till battery was low. Fully recharged it and then ran Netflix on 4g with full screen brightness. I did continuous streaming until the phone died. It lasted about 1 hr and 35 min.

I then ran the exact same test on the OEM 1640 mAh battery. I ran Netflix on 4g with max screen brightness. It lasted over 2 hours before the phone died.

Basically, my Muge Power battery got pwned :-(

Don't you need to put it through a few cycles before you get the maximum use out of it?

I believe that's an old wives tale.

To be honest though that test has a few variables which would affect battery life, such as content resolution and wifi/3g/4g signal strength. To be truly definitive, you should test it's battery life playing the same HD content stored on the phone itself, with wifi, bluetooth, gps, sync, and data all off. This will give you a strict sense of just how long the battery will last doing just one action, and both tests will have the same criteria.

I bought one a few weeks ago and haven't noticed any really noticable increase in battery life (haven't run any tests or anything). I run 4G all day long and it'll pretty much last the day with mixed use.

I did fly coast to coast last week and used my Rezound as my chief source of entertainment (in airplane mode obviously, so data, etc was off) - watched a 2 hour movie (screen brightness was either at highest or close to it), listened to at least 2 hours of music and it was getting down to under 30% after that.

I had tried to re-charge it for the last hour or so of my flight with my Energizer Energi-to go (has like 4,000 mah to recharge a phone), but it was charging way too slow to have enough juice back for my business meetings, etc in SF, so I threw in the regular battery for the rest of the day.

On the flight home I didn't use it at all since I actually won an iPad at the conference I attended :)

But overall I really haven't noticed any notable increase in battery life with my regular use of this battery (I'm running bone stock too). I know it's only a very slight increase in power from stock, but I had hoped to see the same sort of difference I saw when I upgraded my Incredible to the extended battery that fit in the same backing (i think it was 1800), which was more noticable...

Just tossing my two cents in...

I have had the Mugen 1900 battery for about 2 weeks. I do recall the length of time it lasted increased after a few charges. On a daily basis, I am getting a slight but noticeable increase in battery life compared to the stock battery. I am running stock OS and probably giving the phone an "average" amount of use each day. I don't usually run multimedia so I didn't watch movies or anything. I did what I normally do with the old battery and the new battery.

Yes. There is a positive difference. The 1900 battery does boost your battery life... a bit.

I guess the bottom line comes down to whether or not I think the $50 was worth the extra run time. It's a close call. For me, the extra 10-15% or so of battery time is worth it. However, for others it might not be. Just don't expect a massive improvement from this battery. It will give you a little edge.

That's my unscientific commentary of the topic. :)

Hi Guys. New to the forum at least posting a response. Lurking since I received my Rez.

my original intentions to purchase this battery were:
a. extended battery life
b. I keep getting an overheating battery if I use my GPS and charging my phone at the same time using the VZW provided charger. I think it has to do with the screen being on cuz it happens if I am watching NETFLIX and charging off the OEM wall charger also. Haven't tried it in the lowest brightness setting and I really shouldn't have to.
c. I like the case/snap in holster combos like Seidio and Otterbox.

If there was another case combo that fit the extended then I would go that route. My OEM battery just started holding its charge. A good 10-12 hours with not that many quick phone calls and just checking to see if I have emails once in a while. Use it beyond that and this phone is thirsty. BTW, the combo case that exist I have had with an Incredible and the phone slides out. I need a positive lock. Active Job.

So......with the long winded entrance.....does the battery overheating still happen with the MUGEN? Cuz that drives me up the wall. I do a lot of travel for my business in remote areas. Overheating the battery and it not taking a charge is a crock. eventually the phone dies and I am in the middle of nowhere without a GPS. Yes I am not that bad I bring a back up. Still.....

Don't you need to put it through a few cycles before you get the maximum use out of it?

In have seen no evidence that this is necessary. Is there some study or authoritative source that can confirm this? I've never read a phone's manual where it instructs the user to "condition " a battery first before getting proper battery capacity. (and yes I am aware that Mugen says to do this on the package of the battery, but I still don't think that is necessary. Funny enough, the Mugen package also says their battery does not have a "memory effect", which implies that conditioning is NOT necessary. For if the battery has to be charged and discharged several times to achieve the stated capacity, then that, in and of itself, is a "memory effect".)
