Multi-Purpose 2D-3D Switch

I just came up with this great idea. The 2D-3D switch on the 3VO only does something when you're in the camera app. well what about the rest of the time? I'm thinking it'd be pretty cool to repurpose that switch for something like a ring/silent switch(something that all of my previous phones has had).

Maybe even an app that lets you choose various functions for the switch, like orientation lock, disable screen auto off, toggle 3g/4g/wifi, headset/speakerphone during a call, etc.

Anybody else like the idea?

I thought the same thing the other day, we're rooted now, there's no reason this shouldn't exist. If I could develop I totally would... or even if I knew where to start. D;

Same here. I'd love to get into writing apps for android. But even still, that's pretty far away from using undocumented features of the phone

I agree a ringer switch that would go toggle Normal / (Vibrate|Silent) (Maybe user config if you want it to vibrate mode or silent mode) I miss that from my Palm Pre.

I wish someone would manufacture a switch that sticks out more.
Its a total pain in the ass to switch it manually with an Otterbox Defender or Commuter if you arent a woman with fingernails, or a child.

I'm surprised HTC didn't think of this... As it is I wish the switch wasn't there at all, mine's kinda loose and even tho it'll probably never come off (I've seen that kinda switch before, it's loose but encased) it still bothers me... Particularly when the camera shutter button itself is so tight and well built. Oh well...

Yup and it was unanswered for that long. I just wonder how many people looked at it without finding a solution or answer to their same question.
