I have it at times then it goes away not sure if it's what I'm doing or not. But I want it back. Sidebar on left of screen

If you press and hold the Back softkey, it enables it and disables it. I'm not sure, but I believe there is toggle for it in the settings, but I think that holding the Back button toggles it.

Yes just press & hold the back key will toggle it on & off
