I somehow managed to shrink down the window and was able to move it around on my home screen while watching a movie the other day and I can't figure out what I did to enable that functionality....how the heck did I do that?

1. Not possible with stock ROM(maybe i am missing something). are you running a custom rom or mod or app specific to do this?
2. what video player do you use?

when u remember, please share. :) oh wait, you got confused. you actually did that on your spanking-new Note II (overseas, which got the multi window support already)

I believe that's because your video player implements something called a WIDGET. I may not be using the right terminology, but I can do the same thing with the video app I downloaded. I haven't been able to remember the precise movements I used to get it to play the video in a small window, but clicking BACK a few times usually does the trick. There are some other apps that are "widgetized" so they float on top of the "desktop" or launcher screen.

Perhaps the OP is using one of these apps:

BSPlayer has a pop up window option. If enabled, one way to get to it is to hit the back button while the video is playing, not paused (easy to do and can cause confusion the first few times you do it). The window is movable and plays on top of other apps.

Popcorn Player (free) is intended specifically to playback in a pop up, though it will go full screen. It's resizeable with a movable window that will show on top of other apps.

Stick It! (mentioned by TomsAndroid) is similar to Popcorn Player, but is a paid app.
