Multiple apps opening in the background - and I cant stop them!! Please Help!!

Hi there,

I have an S7 but since almost 6 months of having it, I have been having major issues with multiple apps running in the background and re-opening almost as soon as I close them - which causes extreme battery drainage!!

We are talking 43 / 45 apps opening within 3 mins of running an anti virus closer boost thing - although you cant see they are open on the listed apps thing.

I regularly open and run 360 security which just tells me yes the phone is overheating and there are 43 apps open. I close them down, then within 10 mins they are all open again even though I haven't touched my phone!!

On Friday I downloaded and installed Fast Cleaner which worked for all of sat and my battery lasted a day (PB in about 18 months) but now it is all back to normal.

I have tried looking at the settings etc - but cant see what I can change.

Is there anything I can change or install to stop this happening? Its a nightmare!! Its making my phone almost unuseable because I have to charge it 3 times a day!!

Welcome to Android Central! First, I'd get rid of all of those "phone cleaner" apps. They can be part of the problem, because if they're automatically closing apps out of RAM in an effort to "save RAM" or improve battery life, that often does the opposite, since these app developers don't seem to understand how Android works. The system prefers RAM to be mostly full, and if an app gets closed out of RAM manually, the system will figure out which app to open back into RAM to fill that space (which may very well be that same app that was closed). If this happens repeatedly, it requires CPU cycles and battery. Remember, in Android, empty RAM is wasted RAM (which is the opposite of Windows).

Get rid of all of those mostly useless apps, then see what your battery life is like. If it's still poor, then charge up to 100%, then let it drain to 20-30% with normal usage, without charging in between. Then show us:

1. The main Settings>Battery screen.
2. The fullscreen battery graph screen (which shows Awake time and Cell Signal Strength).
3. The Screen category (to see total Screen On time).
4. The Cell Standby category, if present (to see Time Without Signal).

You might have to install a 3rd party battery monitor, like GSam Battery Monitor, to get the Cell Signal Strength graph.
