Multiple Devices

I'm relatively new to Android and was considering getting a second phone as a backup and for international use on Project Fi.

How does it work with multiple devices and your Google account? Can I have two or more devices referring to the one account? How does that affect installed apps, backups, etc.?

Or is it preferable to have a separate account for a second device?

Shouldn't be an issue. If you're thinking of the automatic backups, those are based on which device they were from.

I have 3 devices linked to both of my Google-based accounts (one Gmail, one G-Suite) and have had no issues.
