Hey guys. Recently made the switch from the s7 edge to the htc 10. Over all iam happy but i have a few questions maybe you could help me with ...

The display on the htc 10 is actually just as good as the s7 edge imo. The problem is it doesn't go as bright. If they are both set at the same brightness then the s7 edge looks better! I'am finding that i almost have to have the brightness up close to full to really appreciate the display where as i didn't on the s7. Auto brightness does not seem to work as well as the s7 did either. How are you guys finding the brightness ? What have you got yours set around and how is it effecting your battery life?

Camera is again not quiet as good as the s7 edge i had but again that brightness you get from the s7edge seems to be what makes the difference. If i try match the brightness levels on both then the htc appears just as good with most shots! Does anyone know if there is any adjustments that can be made to improve the display without sacrificing battery life ? and besides using vivid mode!! Also, Why can't i take photos with the htc 10 in 16:9 format??

Lastly..... How the hell do i change the dial pad without changing the whole theme or do i have to simply change the whole theme in order to change the dial pad color?

Really hope the next htc flagship comes with an amoled panel and maybe a camera thats a little quicker to process images aswell as a battery that lasts just a tad longer then the htc10. This phone is very near perfect but so is the s7 edge and as of yet iam not sure which to keep!

Screen brightness is the difference between LCD and Amoled. HTC being LCD. I find I prefer the 10's screen over Samsungs. As for brightness I don't like a super bright screen popping at me all the time like my former S6 was. I have my brightness set to around 75% and sometimes less. It seems plenty bright to me. Battery depends on usage of course. I usually get a full day on a charge. When Nougat comes that may improve as others have said.
As for changing the dial pad while on the Sense Ui go into themes and pick one with a dial pad color you like. You might find other theme options you like in here as well. Sense is only one of the launchers I use but I have found that the theme changes carry over to some of my other launchers as well. I have a darker background dialer that is better than the stark white. If you like the Sense UI you have a ton of theming options. You should start there. Not all of the theme options carry over to other launchers but I have found some do.
Also, as for screen auto brightness I never use it on any phone as I find it annoying. I just find a happy spot with the brightness and usually leave it there. Can be easily changed quickly as needed anyway. As for the camera, I'm a point and shoot guy and get great shots in daylight, don't take many night shots. Enjoy your 10!

I use Lux Auto Brightness to control my auto brightness settings. The creator doesn't support the app anymore, but I find it still works great. As for the camera, press the double line menu bar at the top of the screen, and it will give you settings. From there, you can select the 16:9 format.

Yeah the difference in the brightness is because of the different types of screens... I keep mine on like 30-40% though so it doesn't bother me but I can see how it can be an issue to you bc samsung screens are really bright on max brightness...

As far as the auto brightness... HTC has always had an issue with the auto bright mode working properly at least every HTC I have had an issue with it so I turn it off and just keep brighten my screen if I need to, which most of the time I don't have a need to

My battery lasts all day and that's with moderate usage when I use it heavily it tends to drain fast but it charges so fast that I never have an issue... I actually use the htc boost + app... idk if it does anything significant for battery life lol

With the nougat update on the 10 the battery life is awesome. It was good before but now it's even better.

Auto brightness sucks on the 10, I just turn it off. I keep my display at about 50%. I prefer the HTC screen it has more of a natural look look and not as poppy as Samsung. That's what Samsung is known for. I like it on my TV lol.

You can shoot 16:9 go into settings under photo and you can toggle through the different aspect ratios. Also try shooting some pictures in RAW they turn out really nice.

I don't know of a way to just change the dialer, other than rooting and installing a custom rom. I personally use nova with KLWP and then I find a sense theme that compliments what I am doing with nova.

Any idea when nougat is being rolled out across Europe? I have the unlocked European model and have yet to receive the update
