Multitasking, Power, Battery & the Atrix

I am new to Android, and have only limited experience with multitasking via my g/f's original Droid... On the Droid, if I use the browser, and close it or switch to another app, the browser session stays where I left it (i.e. on the page I closed). This is not so on my Atrix, and is a bit of a nuisance.

Additionally, if I close my navigation program on the Atrix, it shuts off after about 5 minutes, and I have to restart it. This is a pain on a road trip. I am guessing that I have a setting incorrectly selected somewhere, but for the life of me I can't find it.

To this point, if I leave the nav open with the Atrix connected to a car adapter (which I bought from AT&T specifically for the Atrix) the phone doesn't charge, and slowly discharges. As an example, driving from KY to DC over the weekend, my phone started at 90% charge. I plugged it in, and used the navigation the entire day. When I arrived in DC, I had a 30% charge. This is ridiculous.

Any help or tips are appreciated.

Cheers

bump.

Also, I just got a new phone, as the old one was doing weird things too much, and the AT&T rep decided to kill it off.

The new phone acts much differently than the first one. It actually acts like it has a dual core processor. I haven't tried charging it and using navi yet though. That being said, the browser does keep session history, which the old one didn't.

Let us know if the cardock doesn't charge the replacement phone. I had that same issue in the beginning, and I was about to buy a new USB car-adapter thing from walmart or somewhere until one day it magically began charging when plugged in.
