Music controls on the lock screen?

I used Google Play Music on my previous Nokia 8 Sirocco and as far as I can remember if I was listening to music, I would get a NEXT/PREVIOUS button on the lock screen so I can easily jump to the next song while I was listening without having to unlock my phone and go to the app. Is there a way to do this on a Galaxy S9 with the Android Pie update?

Settings > apps > Google Play Music > notifications & make sure "playback" is enabled
