music folder question

Ok I searched but didnt find an answer to my question.

On my x all my music/sound files came up on my music player, so if I played it and selected random every now and then you would get one of my ringtones to play, now I think I found the folder for my ringtones so they dont come up in the music player but I can not find the folder to put my music, can I put them anywhere in a folder or should it be placed somewhere specific? I am just going to cherry pick the songs I like instead of putting whole albums on there this time so I am just going to throw everything in 1 folder

Set up folders on your SD card like this:
Music
Ringtones
Notifications
Alarms
Movies
Videos
Pictures
..and place the files in their correct folders.

You can put them in the media folder. I've always kept them on the root. Either one...

on the sd card mine doesnt have a folder with the word root does have another name I already made folders for music, ringtones and notifications?

one last question, will new photos and videos go into those folders or do I need to set them to go in them, like pics taken on the camera
