I have just moved from Iphone to Samsung S8. On itunes on my computer I could manage music, make playlists and transfer music from cd to my phone. Is there a similar application for Samsung?

Welcome to Android Central! The best way in my opinion is to rip your CDs using iTunes, Windows Media Player, or whatever CD-ripper you prefer. Then upload the music files to your Google Play Music in the cloud, either using the Music Manager program or through Chrome:

Once the music is in your Google Play Music library in the cloud, you can access it anywhere that you're logged in with your Google account, and you can download the music back to your computer or device for offline listening. Playlists are easy to create in Google Play Music as well. If you still want to sync music with the computer, there are some 3rd party programs like iSyncr and doubleTwist, but I found pretty quickly that there was no longer any need to sync my music to a physical computer.

I have been using iTunes to manage playlists on my Android since I left the iPhone 4 for a Note 2. isyncer is the app to use. syncs the playlists and all the metadata, also play counts, ratings ect. it will also sync to play music but that travesty only allows 1,000 songs in a playlist so I would recommend Poweramp or rocket player.

I already had a ton of music in iTunes on my computer when I switched to Android years ago. I just locate the files in my computer and drag and drop in my Android device. Now I have an SD card so music goes with me from phone to phone instantly.

If you prefer to keep your music off Google Play Music for some reason, like being able to use some other music player, any music program for PC not named iTunes can sync music back and forth between your phone and computer. No experience on Macs but if the PC version has a feature then it probably has that too.

I've tried Windows Media Player, Winamp and Musicbee, among others, and they all can rip CDs, manage playlists, and sync to any Android phone.

There's really no official platform like iTunes for Android because all other existing programs work with it. It's kind of no point for Samsung to spend money to make a competing program that a lot probably won't use because there are already far more mature and stable alternatives.

You can also look to Samsung's Sidesync and SmartSwitch programs for PC and companion apps to manage your phone.

I can also recommend Music Bee as I have been using that as an iTunes replacement (to sync with an iPod as I hate iTunes) for a while. Once you set it up it does a great job of ripping cds and it is a good music manager allowing you to edit tags, etc. I don't sync it with my S8 though. I just use drag and drop on my laptop. I may to try the sync option for the heck of it.
