Music from CDs won't appear in music players moto g?

I have lots of music that I've downloaded onto my PC and then transferred to my moto g no problem. But if I try and add music that I have taken from a CD, then to my PC, and then to my phone, the files won't appear in the music player. If I access my music folder on the phone through the computer, the files are there - but they aren't being displayed on the phone's music player. I can't listen to them or see them. Very frustrating! How should I fix this?

The files need to be in a format the music player understands. You cannot generally play files copied directly from cds. You would need to "rip" the files to your pc, then transfer to android.
