I just downloaded a song from Google play but it's not in my music app. Please don't tell me I have to use Google music all access or whatever to listen to my purchased downloads. I already disabled Google music because it kept running all the time in the background

Bingo!

The only way to get then on your other players is to download the file on a computer then move the file to your phone. It sucks and that's how it is.

You don't NEED to use Play Music to listen to the song, you'll just need to download it through a computer. You also don't need the all access to use Play Music. Just so you know running in the background isn't always a bad thing. There's no reason to micro manage running apps on modern android phones unless they are obvious offenders. Use watchdog to find those.

Google music kinda sucks imo. Its obtrusive. I like the original player. Try downloading the song to it phone and see if u can play it that way. I know Google streams music from their cloud with can use a lot of data.

What do you mean by obtrusive?

It uses up ram. Sometimes it gets set to default player when u don't want it to. Thetes a lot going on with the app compared to the standard music player app. It's just s bit more complicated.

You should learn a bit about Android and how it uses RAM before you worry about an app using it.

Ok, then fill me in on how android uses ram, oh sorry let me correct myself, Random Access Memory.

When ur phone has a gig of ram and is using close to 900mb u start to realise that some items can be done without.

Did I give you enough time to Google it? Well here you go just in case. http://m.androidcentral.com/ram-what-it-how-its-used-and-why-you-shouldnt-care

Oh ok, something i already knew thanks for posting a link.

I still don't know why you wanted to point out that u brought up ram. I never said anything about it other than "it uses ram". So what is ur point other than trying to be a p r i c k? There's no need for u to be pointing out information in such a way. You could have said look at this instead of, "Did I give you enough time to Google it? Well here you go just in case."

Way to be a fool over an issue u created.

If you insist. I'll be the first to fire here. Reading the entire thread may show something different however.

No, you probably won't get it so...
You said play music was obtrusive. When asked why you thought that by another member your first sentence was "it uses ram." I then replied that you should learn about Android using ram before you worried about an app using it. You said something to the effect of "fine, explain to me etc etc, oh random access Memory etc etc." this is when I became rude. I apologize for that but don't assume you are free of guilt here.

No need to call each other names, and no need to be rude. Just drop it where it stands.

I apologize for being rude also.I know how ram works. Android does not pick and choose applications to close when ram is getting full. It will have you close what u want. Everytime an app is open it allocates enough memory for that app. Granted ram is pleniful now but when it's limited and getting near full it doesn't slow down the phone or anything. It just makes another step before u can open another program. "It uses ram" was just a statement because the application Google music uses ram. With ppl who have less than a gig of ram it can become an issue if u don't need to use it.

See how bad play music sucks? It has people arguing about something totally different now lol.

OP, as I stated in my first post you can only listen to your play music in the app. Otherwise you need to download on a computer and then move to your phone. It's very dumb especially since we are trying to cut the cord.

I will explain why this is the case however. Play Music has a limited amount of times you can download a song file. A sort of drm if you like. To keep that policy but allow people to pin and unpin music they want on their phone any time they like, the music had to be stored obscurely so you can't keep downloading and transferring.

I already knew that and it still sucks. Justification doesn't make something ok. If they wanted they could still restrict download number of times on a mobile device. It's by choice, not because it's not possible. And to download from the web you have a limit but not through music manager. All you need to do is download it one time to keep transferring it so I don't buy that argument. They are no different than any other company and just want you to use their services and this is one way because a person would be more likely to buy more music if they were stuck using this. Anyhow, I don't care because I don't buy music from Google

I'm not saying it's right, I'm just explaining the reasoning. I'd be willing to bet it was a requirement of the music labels. Like with an iPhone you can't see the files stored there really. The labels are usually the reason for any inconvenience you have to endure involving music.

So I pay and download music from Google music and it is HORRIBLE QUALITY. wtf is this crap?!?!?

You don't need the Music Pass All Access Pass to play the purchase songs I have purchased songs from Google Music a lot of them and I use the Google Music Player to play then you don't need to pay for the masses pass I just gives you access to all home songs that you didn't pay for. Therefore you do need to use the Google Music Player to play songs that's all I use and its all I think it's pretty good player.
