Music in car

Hello,

I currently have a iPhone 4S and prior to that several Android phones. Looks like I'm moving back to Android and the EVO LTE. Currently I can play my music from itunes in my car (G37) Via USB cable and I know with past experience my DroidX couldn't, I could only charge via the USB port. Now with ICS does anyone know if I'll be able to play my music after I transfer over my non-drm music files to the EVO? I'm trying to avoid purchasing an iPod just for the car.

Thanks in advance!

Depends on if your car supports mass storage access for MP3 files. You can test by plugging a usb flash drive into it with a few mp3s on it to see if it recognizes/plays. If so, then the Evo should work as long as you put your music on the sd card and select mass storage/drive mode when plugging it in. (you can set this as a default in settings)

An easier method might be to purchase either the Samsung or HTC bluetooth stereo clip accessory, assuming you have a 3.5mm aux in jack somewhere.

I agree with the above poster. If you have an aux in jack,,, get yourself a bluetooth receiver. It is so worth it. I have a bluetooth receiver and the car dock and as soon as I drop my phone in the dock it immediately switches to car mode turns on the bluetooth, syncs with the receiver, and the music starts playing. Another plus to this is if you are like me and forget to turn your headphone jack volume down(your bluetooth and headphone jack have 2 different volume controls) after you get out the car your don't have to worry about blowing your ear drums out later on when you listen to music with your headphones lol!

I got my cd player back when I had an iPhone and it is made specifically for iPhones, but connecting through USB and setting my evo to disk drive brings my music into the cd player and I can use it just like I could with the iPhone. I seem to be getting tons better quality of music through USB instead of through AUX for some reason? Can anyone shed light on why this reason is?

If your current stereo setup doesn't work with the EVO4G, then you can always listen to the music directly from the phone's speaker. That is what I do. Its a bit of a hassle, but its cheaper then paying for satellite radio. All you would need is an autmotive phone holding mount, to hold the phone in place. You might also need to get the Volume+ app, to booster your speaker volume. Just a suggestion. Hopefully the EVO4G does support your current stereo setup.

@the2ndflood. You should look into an fm transmitter. It will broadcast the music playing from your phone to a vacant radio channel. They'd can be had for cheap on Amazon depending on features...like connecting wirelessly through blue tooth as opposed to using your headphone jack.
