My Droid Pro doesn't seem to want to index the MP3s on my SD card. The ones in /mnt/sdcard/ringtones are picked up for use in the ringtone settings, JPGs are picked up in Gallery, but not MP3s for the Motorola Music app or any 3rd party music apps either. I tried putting them in /mnt/sdcard/music and also /mnt/sdcard/media/audio/music, and they play fine when selected from ASTRO. I tried a couple of SD card re-indexers like this but they haven't helped, plus numerous reboots, power off for few minutes, connect to PC to mount SD for mass storage mode then disconnect, unmount SD card from Android menu and remove from from phone then re-insert.

Any ideas?!?

backup all data folders on the sd card, reformatt it and place the data back on it. use the phone to reformat it and see if that helps.

Fortunately I've just found the solution. Somehow a file named ".nomedia" had made it's way into the root music folder, just above all the artist folders. This file apparently serves to tell Android not to index this folder and those below it for media (music, photos, etc), most commonly used to stop a folder's images coming up in the Gallery app I understand.

Anyway, given what I learned about this file, once deleted everything sprang into life. Thanks anyway though!
