MUTE Function

I recently received a replacement phone (Samsung Blaze) and the software on this phone is a little different from my other phone. This phone has 3 sound settings, Sound, Vibrate and Mute. I usually keep my phone on Vibrate when I'm at work and it always accidentally ends up in MUTE which doesn't have any notification. When I check my phone I always have missed calls and messages. First of all, Why is this an option, and second how can you override this function.

Well, touching the volume key while pulling it out in the movie theater can cause it to go into mute. Just today at lunch I pulled out my phone to check something on the web and had 3 missed cals and 2 emails. One of the callers was at my office waiting for me. Not the best way to do business. This is why I do not like the feature.

Actually I was looking for someone to help me, not voice their opinion.
