I currently use the silence premium app which allows do not disturb to read my calendar and mute notifications according to appts (a feature that is stock Android but Samsung disables for some hugely annoying reason). I also use a widget to quickly mute for 30 minutes at a time if I need it muted on demand.

That said, when DND is activated, the always on display shows nothing other than the DND icon. This is infuriating. When I'm in a meeting, I want to see if a text has come in, a call, etc. I don't want to have to tap to see the lock screen just to check. This was not an issue until one or 2 versions of Android ago. Is there any way around this? It makes me have to touch my phone way more than I'd like in meetings and such. Thanks for any insight.

It's very hard to have the best of both worlds, Do Not Disturb doing what it's meant to do and not disturb.

I actually found a setting in Verizon messages+ that allowed me to override DND with only visible notifications, not audible, which is exactly what I want.

And I disagree with the comment that DND is doing what is supposed to. There's a huge difference between visual notifications and audio notifications and you should be able to choose separately what can override.

Main purpose of DND is not to be disturbed i dont think there anything argue about that , it allows some customization if you found a way That's great but not all apps allow customization in that mode . Its like asking when you put the device in battery save mode to give notifications without delay , there are some customization but its function is to save battery.
