My 5.1.1 download failed can't retry, what should I do?

5.1.1 Download Failed; Can't Retry



So here's the deal. Last night I downloaded 5.1.1 on my Nexus 9. However, it appears it didn't actually download. So I went to my System Update setting today, and I saw this screen.

Here's the funny business. When I click "Retry Download", nothing happens. The button highlights, signifying that it has been clicked, but it stays on that screen. What on earth?

I've already restarted and reset my tablet (not factory. I did the power + volume thing) and still nada. How do I fix this little bug?

I've seen that kind of thing happen on my Nexus 7. After waiting a day or two, the download and update were successful, so give it a little time. It might be a server issue.

Been 2 days, still can't update. This is ridiculous, my device is now useless.

If it's a 3G/4G model (not the wifi-only model) bring it to your carrier and ask if they can please flash the update for you. Some will, as a matter of course. Some will tell you to contact Google. Some will look at you as if you're speaking Martian.

Nope, it's the WiFi only version.

That sounds pretty dangerous, I'm not skilled enough to confidently attempt that. Still won't update normally on my device ???????????? This is just lovely.
