My Bionic

Just popped into the Verizon store closest to my office- They don't have any in stock yet but I was able to check out the dummy unit. The phone is definitely sleek though certainly not light. It's considerably thinner than my D1 so I'm not complaining. The shape definitely surprised me. I remember seeing the pictures and couldn't figure out just where the chin and whatnot were but actually holding it in hand it all came together. The phone's full of angles, if that's the best word to use.
Can't wait- Hoping that store (not a corporate store) will be able to sell it to me tomorrow

Tomorrow? Its not for sale tomorrow bro. Thursday at 9am, yes.

I am currently using a Droid X and the back battery cover is very easy to remove and replace. How is the battery cover on the Bionic to remove and replace?

It's lighter than my droid 3.
I had a Droid 3 for a few weeks. People kept on saying that the Bionic and Droid 3 were basically the same. What are you thoughts? I know it appears that Bionic is lighter, but is it noticeably faster? Better screen?

While I am not sure if you can answer this, do you know if the Bionic has the same data roaming issue as the Droid 3? The data roaming kicking off all the time is what made me turn my Droid 3 back into Verzon.

No issues so far. Bigger screen. A tad lighter. 4g. All around a better device than D3. Best 4g phone at VZ in my opinion.

Have the actual dimensions/weight been discussed?

phonearena.com lists them as:
Dimensions: 5.00 x 2.60 x 0.40 (127 x 66 x 10 mm)
Weight: 5.60 oz (159 g)

Are these accurate?
The original unreleased version of the Bionic was reported to be 13.3mm thick.

I currently have an OG Droid that has a broken microphone on it. I either have to talk on speakerphone, from what I have been told sounds awful on the other end, or a Jawbone that I forget to take with me wherever I go. I am willing to spend the extra cash on the phone to get it first thing Thursday morning. I have to coordinate with the in-laws in order to get to Costco sometime, and it probably wouldn't be Thursday, nor worth my time or sanity :) In other words, I want this thing ASAP!

I have the same exact issue w/ my OG Droid! Started acting wonky 2wks ago standing in Walt Disney World trying to figure out how we were going to get home when Amtrak canceled the AutoTrain. Try and find a quiet spot in the Magic Kingdom so you can use your speakerphone to talk to customer service... there isn't one to be found since they pipe music in everywhere!

I just got back from my local Verizon store and saw their demo model of the Bionic. It is so much thinner and lighter than the OG Droid, I can't wait!

They are planning on opening at 9am on Thursday but I am calling back tomorrow to see if they change that!

^ That, since the new phone is technically being bought for the second line, Verizon won't even let you buy the phone without adding a data plan to the new line. If you know a manager at one of the stores, they might be able to finagle it to work without having to add a second data plan as well, but I wouldn't count on it.

Just so you know... You will be required to take on the data plan ONLY while the phone is on the "new" line. Then when you take it off the line by *228 a "dumbphone" that requires no data plan, you will not have to pay anything but the $9.99 +taxes/fees. You are not required to keep the data plan with a dumbphone.

This is becuase you are allowed to "change" your contract at anytime with Verizon without any penalties. (More minutes, less minutes, More text, No text, More data, less data).
You may have to pay a prorated fee for the "one day" on use on a data plan.

Could you please tell me if the battery percentages is measured by 1%, or 10% like the OG Droid? You can use Battery Indicator (app on the market) to tell.

Really? I thought it was confirmed that it wasn't going to be split like that, more room was going to be available for app space. That's a little disappointing I guess.. (I'm still not even sure what difference that makes haha)

Uh, yea. That's why I had asked. I guess you were a little more confused than I

The stores have the sim's on hand and install it then.

I'm buyin in the store thursday morning... Maybe I'm just weird but I rather them not touch it, tbh. I will handle the unboxing, installing sim, whatever on my own at home. Hope they don't cause a conniption over that.

Me too I am just going to tell them i need to get to work and i will set it up later.

I know it's not for same tomorrow, but the guy said if they've got them and he can, he will sell it to me earlier- it's not a corporate store.
Good luck with that i work at indirect and we just got the demo unit today so you have a chance of it soming tommorow. However that rep can loose their job if the system allows them to sell it early. "Often it is a lock esn to not activate early to prevent this. Dfill often gets a one day window.

I'm contemplating whether I should use my available upgrade option or pay full retail. My TB "conveniently" got accidental water damage recently and I'm waiting for a refund from Squaretrade.
