My Bionic

Brandon,

Have you had any issues at all yet with lock-ups or force closes, or anything you would consider a hiccup or hinkyness with the phone? I ask because my Droid X follows the old nursery rhyme... "when she was good she was very very good, and when she was bad she was awful."

P.S. Paypal sent! Thanks for everything!
Dave

looks like a lot of bloat/crap-ware installed on the bionic...is the root process easy or going to be easy? i'm picking it up thurs morning regardless, time to pass on my og droid...thanks for all the posts y'all..awesome thread!
already been rooted!

I am thinking 2 hdmi docks(work and home) 1 standard for the night stand and one for the car should do...$$$

Congrats on the Bionic, personally I am not 100% "sold" on this phone. For one we will not have 4G in this area till sometime late next year. But other than that I guess I'm just not feeling it like I did with my OG Droid, DroidX, DroidX2, and Droid Incredible2 if that makes any sense.

I am also wondering if you can pair tyhe Bionic with the Xoom over BT and share the Bionics internet like you can with the DroidX and X2?

When I was at my local Verizon store this afternoon the guy there said that they had the standard dock and the lapdock. When I asked about the HDMI dock, he said he would have to order it or it may come in before Thursday which said to me that the other two docks were already in the store!
just bought hd dock

Yes but there is only 4 gig application memory. 8 gigs are for internal storage, and the other 4 gigs are occupied with webtop and the android system. Some people get all mad at this. It isn't a big deal. People will always find something to complain about.

You know what....all this time folks were complaining about it might be splitting RAM....forgot all about it needing to use internal storage...

Here's what I had to say earlier about their marketing strategy: http://forums.androidcentral.com/droid-bionic/116194-advertisement.html#post1221269

Consider it.. they don't need to waste money advertising this thing before its out, as there's no immediate competition. Not to mention, there's a ton of hype, they're getting "free" advertising from twitter and all the blogs and tech forums like this one covering it.. I mean they gave bworley a free phone and look how much that has done?! 83k views in this thread and read how many posts are people who were on the fence and now convinced to buy it? Lol they know what they're doing...

Same scenario with the Photon on another forum. It helped ppl that were on the fence make decision. I think they might wanna hire bworley as an unofficial leaker, tester for phones.

wow.. .its about a half inch bigger than the tbolt????

I thought it was thinner than the Charge tho?

basic Motorola questions

I am coming from a TBolt so I am a little spoiled by HTC Sense.

1: Does the Bionic re size text when you pinch to zoom in so the text all fits on the screen?
I do not like having to swipe left to right to read the zoomed in text.

2: Does the dialer on the phone search through your contacts as you type in a contacts name?
This is the best feature on a phone. I have 300 plus contacts and I canst stand scrolling through them while driving to dial a number.

3: Lastly, how is this as a phone?
Call quality?
Speaker volume?

Wow man, The Thunderbolt looks like crap compared to a Bionic in every aspect.

BATTERY LIFE

Phone just died (battery). 100% brightness all day. Using it all day. Only used 4g (did not turn on wifi). Got about 6hrs 15 minutes. The battery is very, very good. For those of you expecting a "miracle" battery, you will be disappointed. For those of you who are like me (home charger, work charger, car charger), it's business as usual. Very pleased so far.
And this gives you a great idea how the battery will run. Looks like I'll get a good day out of it if I keep the brightness down and I'll probably use it a little less than you since I can't actually use my phone during class.

And I'm interested in that HD Dock too...hope you like it.

1. When double tapping on an Android web browser the text will re-size automatically. This is not related to HTC Sense.
2. The contacts app will let you search by simply typing in a few characters, the search button should do this as well. (Stock Android)
3. Call Quality has been said to be excellent. Speaker volume is loud and clear.

Can someone point me in the direction of which video on bworley's YouTube channel shows the text messaging on this phone? I've kept up with since this thread since day one and have watched most of the videos but must have missed the one that shows this. Thanks!

Brandon,
Thanks for all the great info. Have you used the Webtop Application yet? I would like to find out if proxoid works for using the Firefox browser without a tethering plan. Not a lot of talk about webtop but I think its one of the best features of the Motorola phones. Except that it requires tethering. Proxoid was mentioned on some Atrix and Photon websites, so I expect it to work on the Droid.
Thanks !!!

BWorley, I know you haven't purchased the Lapdock and this question should probably be asked in a new thread, but do you know if the Lapdock going to require a tethering plan??? If this is true, I doubt many people are going to spring $300 + $15 a month for tethering on top of whatever their data charges are?? That sucks!

Technically a tethering is required, like the Atrix and Photon, however as with all things android, many have found ways around having to buy the tethering add on. One way is using a program that is free in the android market called Proxoid...
