My Calendar ?insoluble problem

I've already spent like 4 hrs total with both HTC and Verizon technical support about this, so I believe this is a real problem. They both tell me they have no solution and recommend I post on a forum.

The problem is that I've been using the "My Calendar" calendar in the Droid Eris (one of the first Droid phones from back when there was only the Droid and the Droid Eris) which does NOT sync with the gmail calendar, nor does it sync with the Android "sync" app for use on your PC. I never used the calendar which could sync with gmail because I never had use for that. I've now upgraded to another phone (an iPhone) and I'd like at least a copy of all of the Calendar entries I've made over the past 2 years, if not a syncable file with the iPhone. I've given up on the latter, but does anyone know of a way to at least access and open the "My Calendar" data file on the Eris so I can keep a file with a record of the entries? I have an app called File Manager 1.20 which seems to allow me to at least see some of the Calendar files, but I can't get them to open into intelligible text or image files, which I then might be able to save somewhere accessible.

Any other suggestions would be more than welcome. Would rooting help? I'm not a programmer and not anxious to get into that, but I really need a copy of the calendar entries for my records. This is very frustrating!

Thanks.

Solution (sort of)

So an HTC tech supervisor called me after I complained about my experience with their support and he put me on to a third party app called My Backup Pro. I already had this app, but I didn't realize that the notorious "My Calendar" entries would be available online in a format that was actually readable by Notepad. So I found my most recent backup file online and saved it as a Notepad file. So now at least I have a record of the calendar entries and I can finally recycle this infernal phone. BTW I had a paid version of Backup Pro - I'm not sure if the free one has this functionality.

Hope this might help anyone else unfortunate to have this problem with the Droid Eris.
