My Early G3 Issues

Ok I've noticed and I have my auto brightness checked off and my brightness level at 70 percent.. Why is it that I notice on home screen and while using apps that my back light dims just a tad every so often.. Its like the screen dims about 10-15 percent quite often.. The first phone I exchanged for another one and this one does the same thing. Only thing I did n changed on the phone is that it's running Art... Can it be art.. This is th second phone I go through that it goes through light dimming from time to time

Never mind switched out of art to Dalvik n same thing.. Runs slower without art.. But brightness still dims a tad

Once the phone warms up, the display brightness drastically reduces to prevent overheating and becomes far less legible in bright, sunny conditions. After a few minutes, the brightness often dims even more although the indicated brightness percentage level doesn't change. This could be an unfortunate by-product of packing so many pixels into one screen, prompting militant power-saving measures from the LG G3.

Verizon user here. Tried ART this afternoon and it was awful. Glitchy and it got VERY hot, especially at the power and volume buttons. Switched right back to Dav and things are fine.

ART stands for Android Runtime, I think. I enabled mine and the phone cycled then downloaded 230 files and no difference from dalvik. 1 thing g2 had that g3 is missing is ram optimizer widget that helped me stay on top of processes using ram and battery.

You don't need to empty processes from ram. It does nothing.

Well, how many of you still have the G3 in your possession?

After a trek through the iPhone 6 world, then Turbo world, I returned to the G3. I have to say for me, it's still the best phone that works for me. I do still experiance Android Lag. I've heard lollipop will clear this up, but right now it's not available to me. The rest however is working fine with no ART installed. Battery lifes still good, but I did pick up a second battery and have had to use it on occasions. The signal quality was improved some with the 12B update. At least it doesn't go into 3G around the house anymore. Over all, its the best phone for me right now.

I loved the iPhone 6. Really. It would still be in my possession, if I hadn't had Hotspot issues. iOS likes to use a security form that not all devices like. Since I use my Hotspot daily for Internet at home, not being able to connect my router to my iPhone hotspot was a huge problem for me and forced me to move to a different device. Enter the Turbo...

The Turbo was not the phone for me. I had hotspot issues with it too. So far the G2 and G3 are the only two phones that I don't have Hotspot issues with.

I'd love to get your thoughts now that it's been out for 9 months. Are you looking forward to the G4 because you think the 3 needs to be replaced, or are you like me, not really watching for the 4, because the 3 is working well for you? (Or at least well enough )

I'm perfectly happy with my G3, I'd actually still be using the G2 except I recently switched cell carriers & felt like I should go with the newer model.

I've owned a lot of Android devices. The G3 is not the perfect Android device. It can't be said that it is the "best" phone of 2014 with any concrete evidence. I do feel like it is a very solid choice and one I recommend for those people buying phones today (especially on a budget as most carriers are discounting it heavily right now).

Camera is very solid. "Android lag" with the stock launcher...yes. "Android lag" with Nova Launcher (which was recently updated...so nice)...not nearly as much. This is true even on lollipop. I have had it since the day after it launched on Verizon. I have been very happy with it. Build quality could be better...the M8 my daughter has still impresses so much more in that department. But that camera on the M8...that was a deal breaker for me personally and I still think I made the right decision between those two phones...and I think those two phones were the best all around phones of 2014. Just my 2 cents.
