I bought an Evo 3D from a sprint store the day it came out. while visiting Puerto Rico I went to a store to check something and they tell me my ESN is showing as stolen/lost. I'm still using the same phone, it hasn't been lost or anything. does anyone here know how this could happen?

CS Rep error? If I see such an error I'd try to get the CS representative to verify all the account details in the system and fix all inconsistencies. If you're the customer, your password to check the account works and heck, they perform an ID check and you say your phone hasn't been stolen then they need to fix the details they have plain and simple.

I smell fish. Where's the rest of the story? You can't use a lost/stolen phone. That's the whole point of it being in their system as such.

Sent from my hoe. Forgive the typoes; it's an Epic.

There is nothing more to the story, I've never changed my phone and it's been working since day 1

I reversed the root and put it back to stock. Took it to a service store and played dumb, they made a call to a sprint tech, and entered a bunch of numbers and fixed it. Sprint has a security system that randomly checks your phone if your installed ROM doesn't pass they flag your account a certified tech had to call in with phone in hand. Also my service interruptions were very random, no problems since. I hope this helps

I've never heard of this. I'm wondering why the phone still works at all. If it's lost or stolen according to their system it should be shut off completely and you'd know it.

I guess my ROM passes checks. Or the checks aren't happening.

Can anyone give more info on Sprint doing checks on the ROM? I don't remember anywhere in the contract I signed that it said anything about not being able to root my phone and install a custom ROM on it (yes, I'm one of the freaks who actually reads the whole damn contract). Plus, wasn't there a case about a year or so ago when Apple tried to sue someone for jail breaking their iPhone and the courts said it wasn't illegal? If it isn't illegal and isn't against the contract, how/why would they blacklist the esn?

There is no system for flagging phones if they are rooted/running a different rom. That comment is not true.

+1 that statement is bogus.
The only "system" is if a tech has your phone for service and knows what to look for. Even then techs aren't gonna flag your phone for anything. They may make a note that it was rooted within eticket or RMS but nothing more than that.

I know what happened it was that wicked witch Ms. Webb in their legal department. She is a shark that is going to run Sprint into the ground. She makes the rules up as she goes along sounds like a woman on a power trip that Dan Hesse needs to take down a peg or two or four. Anyways if you search my post there is a thread idk if its still posted with a pic of the letter she sent me.

She will run audits look at anyone's information and boot your ass as she sees fit. I tried to fight it but the rep flat on the phone told me no one from the call center has ever been able to speak to Ms. Webb about investigating stuff she just does it.

Oh and she will not return a phone call either. If you can find that post her number is on the letter you might want to call her and say stop messing with my stuff if u want out without paying an etf she will gladly help you if you do something she sees not fit. Prime example test just 2 devices in the 15 day window and take both back because you are not happy boom she will send off a letter saying good bye. If you don't get one in a month or two call her and say lookie what i did boo and she will get your butt good. hahahahahahahah.

Sorry for going off topic but I wish someone at Sprint above her would slap her ass.
