My Evo Camera/Video just got Schooled by Iphone4

Hopefully all these comments are meant for the OP lol. I simply provided a post of a comparison. I love my EVO

I do wish the Evo's video quality was better, although the pics look just fine.

Last night I took a WVGA video outdoors, and almost the same exact video in 720p right afer. I couldn't tell the difference, aside from the fact the WVGA video took half the space on my memory card and ran smoother.

That's not good. There should be a light and day difference between WVGA and 720p, on a larger display. Wonder if a software fix could make it look better?

The camera has a better handling outdoors than it does indoors.

Just went to Apple store and spent 30 min comparing.
Pics and vids on iphone are without a doubt clearer and richer...
The camera and video are probably the main I got the Evo....as well as screen size.
(And we're talking phone to phone comparison...of course point and shoot devices are better).
IPhone 4 flat out spanks the Evo in this department.

Oh, on a larger display? So I wouldn't be able to tell on the phone itself, then? That would make sense.

Then why didn't you get a video camera? lol.

For that matter, my Tekxon DV7000 spanks the iPhone 4 :D

Does anybody know if the camera has a fps cap on it just like the 30 fps cap? I recorded a video out side over the weekend and it looks great but when playing it back I noticed it lagged or skipped after the 1st few seconds of viewing but the rest of the video played fine.

." I still can do anything the iPhone4 can but BETTER."....ummmm..except? What?...you can say it..gohead...its ok: that's right: take better pictures or shoot better video. Good..its ok.
I still like my Evo.... (not as much as I'd like to tho!).

Well hey, it's gotta excel at SOMETHING. It'd be sad if it didn't.

The Evo specs says it records at ~25 fps, but in practice, it looks like like it's even lower, like 18-20 fps.

Let's hope they can smooth that out. 720p video recording as it is now is useless. Basically high resolution junk.

i dont thin kit was THAT much of a difference, but the iphone definitely was better. but it wasnt a total smashing i dont think.

Im sure AT&T will welcome all you whiners with open arms, youre still within the 30 day window.......see ya!

I kinda knew this would be an issue but honestly, being a female, I always carry a compact digital camera in my purse. I never have used any of my previous cell phones to shoot video or take pictures...but that's just me... I can see how this would be an important issue to the guys though...it wouldn't be practical for a guy to carry a phone and a camera...that would be stupid. I switched from AT&T to get the Evo and love the device. The camera takes decent pics in my opinion when I did a few test-out shots. Haven't had a reason to use the Evo for video shooting. I had the 3GS 32GB previously and was actually up for an upgrade but just decided to leave AT&T plus I just got tired of all the dropped calls. Anyways, just my 2 cents.
I did stumble accross a video of a "short film" made with an iPhone 4 I guess as an expample of the quality and the quality is impressive, but I'll stick to my camera...for me anything worth recording should be done on a real camera anyway.

Poor thread title I see..sounds as tho my purpose is to tout IPhone perse. Not so.
Having a good camera and video recorder IS important to me for various reasons and had heard that the IPhone quality was a cut above due to some different development technique or whatever... so i compared not believing that a 5mgpxl cam and samespec video recorder could infact be significantly better.
It was. Truth.
Have no interest in going back to that device tho.

You may be able to see artifacts on the smaller screen, but it would be more profound on a larger display. If you were to take the 480p video and play it on a larger display next to the 720p video, you should see a night and day difference.
