My facebook messenger app is not loading

I try to open the app and it just goes to a little black circle that spins forever. It used to be blue but at some point during my fixes it switched to black. I've tried clearing cache, clearing data, switching from wifi and mobile networks, reinstalling, force stopping, downloading an older version, and between all those restarting my phone. I know this isn't Facebook support but does anyone have any ideas? thanks

Did the phone come with Google services preinstalled, or did you have to install them yourself?

Also, what version of Android is that phone running? The app page in the Play Store says that FB Messenger requires Android 9 and up. The google services were preinstalled. It's android 7, but the app was working fine until i uninstalled it to try and fix an issue with my in-app messages, now i can't get back in.

It may be that the version you had was an old one that was still compatible with Android 7, and once you uninstalled it, the only one available to you was the current version in the Play Store (which is incompatible).
