My galaxy note edge won't charge due to overheating when its not even hot!!!!

I plugged in my phone to charge and received a message saying that it wont charge due to the battery overheating. So i unplugged the phone, took the battery out and left it for a couple of hours. I then left the phone off as i tried to charge it and it still wouldn't work. Now the phone wont let me onto my settings or my battery doctor app to see what issues may be occurring. I've only had the phone for a week also. Anything i can do or should i just take the phone back?

Welcome to Android Central! I wouldn't waste any more time trying to figure it out on your own--take it back for an exchange, before the window closes.
