My Galaxy S6 recently updated to Android 6.0.1. Now I can't download pics from it to my pc via USB. What do I do?

My galaxy s6 recently updated to Android 6.0.1. Now I can't download pics from it to my pc via USB.

I used to be able to plug the phone into my windows 7 pc and copy files from the DCIM folder. Now the computer sees the phone but there are no folders displayed.
I can right-click on import pictures and videos but it says there are no new pictures or videos on this device

Welcome to Android Central! With Marshmallow, the default USB connection is Charge Only. When you connect, swipe down the notification panel and tap the USB icon, and make sure it's set to MTP (or File Transfer).
