My Galaxy S7 has stopped saving my "recent apps". How do I fix this?

I have tried deleting a recent app which seemed to help for a while, then it stopped saving again.

My recent apps menu also stopped working yesterday on my Vodafone Smart Ultra 6. Restarting the phone bade it reappear briefly, but now it's gone again. I hadn't installed amy new apps.

Clearing the cache partition may have solved this for me. May have... I'll see how it goes.

EDIT: Issue came back after a week, so cache partition clear wasn't permanent fix.
