I got my device 3 weeks ago and I'm already experiencing lag and stutter on apps and games. I tried every tip for boosting it, but nothing worked. Please help! (Catagory is s8 cuz theres no s9 option)

I've had my S9+ since mid-June; I throw a lot of apps on it, use it every day, and haven't experienced what you describe.

Step 1 is always setting it back to factory defaults and setting it up again.

Mine works well. Bluetooth disconnects frequently but other than that she runs very strong.

What options for boosting it have you tried?

Deleting some apps, apps that "boost the device", dev option tweaking, clearing cache partition, none of that is working.

It sucks because I was really excited from leaving my old s5 only to suffer the same issues. Even, the lightest applications have some lag in animations :/

Mod Note: Cleaned some posts. Lets discuss the topic and not each other. If you do not wish to help, please move on. Thank you.

Could you post a screenshot of your battery usage from the Settings?

Saucemula, first - get rid of any apps that "boost" the device, the RAM, the battery or anything like that, Uninstall them! (This goes double for any apps written by Cheetah Mobile.)

Second, when you quit an app, use the back button, not the home button. I know you'll see all sorts of Youtubers using the Home button, but that just runs the launcher - the app that you were using keeps running in the background. There's a big difference between an app being in the background (there should always be a lot of those - unused RAM is wasted RAM in Android - it's not Windows) and an app running in the background. That degrades performance and slows the phone down. Open Recents (the square button at the bottom right), find the X in the upper right corner of each app other than the one you're currently running, and tap it. That will close most apps. And in the future, use the Back button when you're finished using an app.

See if those 2 things don't help.

(And don't try "boosting" a phone's performance - Android already does all the things those apps claim to do - without having an extra app running.)

I did that countless times, and it never has worked

Suggestion - I too have a S9 Plus and no lags. So, perhaps it is a specific app causing the slowdown. You could try an app like Accubattery to see what is using resources. Or, you could reset and gradually add apps back in until you see the slowdown. You could also try a different launcher. Nova Launcher - set to "Light Speed", is blazing.

As asked before, show us a screenshot of your battery usage.
Constantly clearing cache and closing apps is not a fix, but a bandaid. If you have to do that then there is another problem.

and idk why it compresses every screenshot I take either

Another screenshot

I'm not seeing anything about the OP trying a full factory default reset? And then manually reconfiguring the phone, only putting back the apps that you use a lot. And checking the performance along the way, as apps are added back in manually...

I'm another one that has had an S9 for a few months, no lagging, stuttering, etc. But if I did, it would be a full factory reset for me. After trying the system cache flush thing, of course. Oh yeah, and booting into safe mode, and then you'll only have the apps that came with your phone. And you can see what the performance is in that mode. Without any of the extra apps that you've installed.

But the ultimate answer may simply be a full factory reset.

Good luck.

When your using an app or game, do you get any form of stuttering in them, or is it 100% hitch free. I just did a hard reset and I dont think it worked...

Its performing worse than before I reset it I give up

I'm just gonna throw it out a window or something

Nope, no problems with speed, still as fast and smooth as the day I got it.

Sorry that the reset didn't help...did you restore the phone settings/configuration from a backup, or restore it manually?

Also, have you tried booting to safe mode to see if it performs better in that mode? If so, you could have some problematic apps.

If all else fails, you could potentially get an RMA under warranty...

Also, I'm curious if you got your device from a carrier. I'd take it back if so.

That's Android Central. AC compresses the crap out of posted photos.

Yes, I got it from at&t

Problem is that my dad said if anything happens to my phone then he wont do anything about it. Thing is that I have not damaged it or anything like that :/

Of course I end up getting the defective model...

Maybe just try explaining it to him? Though, if you had similar issues with your S5, sounds like a rouge app.
