I dont like cases either......but after dropping it i realize this phone aint gonna make it without one.

OMG! About an hour after my last post the silky smooth GN slid out of my dry calloused finger tips. It dropped about six feet. As soon as I stopped stomping and cursing, and could focus again, I found a crack in the body right near the corner of the screen. I felt numb, especially since my size 12 foot was in my mouth.
So needless to say the GN is no longer naked. I got a jell case so it wouldn't slip through my fingers.:-$

Yeah, the build/construction being tested during a drop isn't really what concerns me about the phone as much as it is the "feel" of the phone while it's in the hand. It seems very easy to slip/slide across the fingertips because of the way the sides are tapered/sloped and the material they're made out of. I'm hoping the Diztronic TPU case improves the grip as much as giving it a thin layer of protection.

When my wife comes home i will try to take some pics for you.....she has the camera and of course the only other camera is her phone. I think the diztronic looks very good. If i didnt know better it looks likeba hard case. It improves grip a lot, without being rubbery feeling.. It will not offer to much protection on a fall, but for scratch and everyday wear protection it seems very good. I have the extended battery and it fits perfect. Overall it is a great case for 10 bucks.

Yep thats pretty much the exact damage my poor phone took. I became a convert to cases real quick.

By some sort of Christmas miracle, my case arrived this afternoon even though it was scheduled to arrive on the 29th after being shipped from across the country. I agree with you, and it doesn't take too much of the sexy away from the phone. I might go check out a silicone case to see how different it looks/feels, but I think this will do.

Glad to hear the Defender works with Google Wallet (at least for one poster, not so much with the other). That means it ought to work with the Commuter.

Yeah it works well with google wallet as well with the android beam...seems that the nfc signal is strong enough to get through it.

I'll echo the positive sentiments about the Diztronic. I've had it on my GN since day one. It adds very little bulk to the phone, but does offer added "grip". I haven't seen another case that I would prefer. For 10 bucks, it's hard to beat this case.

I have the Diztronic case as well. Very nice case, especially since it was only $10! I really like the feel of it and it seems to offer very good protection. I feel it offers more protection than the silicone cases that Verizon sells and hopefully I won't find out how well this case holds up in a fall. I've been looking at a few of the hard cases for the GNex online and am considering switching to one of them as they seem to be the safest bet. I'm assuming hard cases beat soft cases, but does anyone know how well TPU cases (Diztronic) hold up against hard cases?

I left the store with my nexus only to return 30 minutes later because I found myself afraid to take the phone out of my pocket for fear I was going to drop it. Never had a case for my Palms or for my OG but bought the Incipio case from vzw and love it!
