my g4 froze so i took the battery out and put it back in. Then i tried to turn the power on and nothing happened. The power button does nothing and i have removed the battery multiple times. Occasionally when i put the battery in the power button will work but it only goes to the LG screen and then goes black. And even sometimes when i put the battery in it starts the process by itself. Once the screen goes black it is entirely unresponsive and i have had to remove the battery several times.

Boot loop. Basically you need to either have it repaired or replaced.

I never heard of that happening. Maybe the power switch has a short circuit?

no it's the dreaded boot loop. I had to have mine replaced. Nothing i did would bring it back to life after it froze. SO sad. I had to wait a few days for a replacement and all was well after that. It's a known issue with G4s

I don't think this is the same as the more common boot loop problem because the phone isn't going into an actual loop. Could still be another hardware or even software glitch.

If the root cause is the same as the boot loop, then try sticking it in the freezer for about 20 min, then turning it on while still in there. If it boots, then it's the same issue (bad solder connection), and you can at least back up your data while in the freezer. If this doesn't work, then it's likely another problem entirely.

I was referring to, specifically, inserting the battery and having the G4 turn on (or at least power on but not boot). I don't think that's boot loop - power button/hardware related.

It doesn't need to go into a constant loop. Trust me this is the boot loop issue and your phone is f**ked it's as simple as that. As said, repair or replace as there is nothing you can do to fix by yourself.
