My Lg Power screen keeps turning off after a couple sceonds

When I stop touching my Lg Power phone screen, sometimes it dims after just a couple seconds ans then goes out after a couple more. This is way sooner than the setting says in the screen display. It happens so quick that I can't touch menu options while on a call without having to wake the screen. It's always been this way. Is this normal? Really annoying. Thanks.
