My mom's Note 5 won't power on or charge

Everything seemed normal with the phone today, no problems or anything. It was sitting on the table for a while this evening and she went to use it and it wouldn't wake up. She tried turning it on to see if it got shut off and still nothing. It doesn't seem to be charging either as nothing happens when it's plugged in. Any ideas as to what's going on and how to fix it? Already tried pressing and holding power, volume down, and home which didn't work.
 
It could be the battery itself. But I would first check out the charging port. Might have dust built up inside. Take a can of compressed air to it and see if that helps. It could be the charger is bad. You want to use authentic Samsung USB and not 3rd party.
If it is the battery it can b end replaced by a computer guy or send to Samsung directly.
If your mom has insurance she could pay the deductible and get a replacement.
Hope it's minor.
 
Check out everything suggested. I sold wireless for 5 yrs. Could be the charger. The charging port or the battery
