My Motorola stopped allowing acces to a Yahoo account

So I had three yahoo accounts on this phone, and suddenly one of them starts coming up wrong oassword every few minutes when it tries to sync up. I havent changed the password, verified the password was correct by accessing through browser (though maybe my account had been pirated at first), rebooted, deleted account from phone, tried to re add, and its twlling me still wrong password. What gives?

Is there any chance that this account has two step authentication and requires an app-specific password? On a computer browser, log in to your Yahoo account, go to account info, then account security, and see what the settings are there for two step and app passwords.

Using two step means that the mail app can't be interrupted to give a second factory (usually a text message, call to your phone with a code, or an email to a known other account), so you set up specific passwords that are allowed for apps like email clients to connect around the two factory authentication.

Yahoo email is evil. I've had customers I've had to reset correct passwords because...... Yahoo?
