my new moto 7G and my sandisk SD card

[Android Central Question]

Hi,

Got a new Moto G7 and dropped in a 64 GB SD card - I then formatted it as internal add on storage - worked fine.

I've since replaced that card with another bigger one but when I tried to mount it back on my PC the computer can't see / or doesn't recognize the old 64 GB SD card now - so I can't reformat it and use it ......

I also tried an SD card formatter program on the PC and it can't detect the card either.

Any suggestions?

Welcome to Android Central. Once you format an SD card as adoptable storage, you cannot use it in another device unless you format it as external memory in the phone where it was originally used, which will wipe anything stored on the card.

Welcome to the forums. When you format a card as internal storage it will be encrypted in such a way that it can only be read by the phone where you did this process. It can't be read or even formatted in a different device.

To revert this situation you need to insert the card in your phone again and go through the process or setting it back as external storage, moving all its content to the phone.
