Nexus 4 touchscreen not working after replacement

I took my phone out of my back pocket and it was cracked the other day so I replaced the screen myself. It displays fine but is unresponsive to touch. I can't think of anything I did wrong. There was some grey cloth underneath the screen I didn't put back and I did a lazy job on taping the screen back since it was late at night. maybe that's the problem? The display sits just fine though

It could be mnany things. You could have pinched a wire, causing a short and frying an output on the motherboard. You could have a connector not fully locked in. You could have pinched a wire and cut it. You could have something on the screen grounding because you didn't replace the insulator. You could have bought a screen with a defective digitizer.

That's why paying a shop to fix your phone is usually the cheapest option.
