I left my N7 in the rest room Thursday on my lunch break.. Went back to work and then while packing up to go home realized my purse felt too light because the N7 was missing
Rushed back to the ladies room, checked the reception desk and NO Tablet.

Called Google support to deactivate but they said they only do it for missing/stolen shipments on new devices.

Google suggested I call ASUS. They would not deactivate either. They told me to register at their site then use their device tracker. I did this only to
discover that the tracker kept telling me to enter a valid serial number over and over again. I entered my serial # in upper case, lowercase over and over and over to no avail.

This morning I took my case number and called Asus back asking for help with the eavice tracker not accepting my serial #. After much
ado I am told the serial number is vaid but I should send them a police report. I said that I was told prior to track the device and
once I had a location I could call the police to report.BUT THE TRACKER WONT WORK.

I asked for someone to help me make the device tracker work and was told that they had no phone number for that support.

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Customer service reps drive me crazy. I hung up. Am going out tablet-less to
treat myself to lunch and mourn my loss.

If anyone has any suggestions before I try to round up $300 for a new N73g I am all ears.

Thanks for reading. I really needed to vent.

you can go to androidlost.com and push the software to your tablet. With that on you can track it, erase it, etc. quote

"Remote installation
If you have already lost your phone and have not yet installed androidlost you still have a chance of using it. First push the app to the phone as described above. Then send an SMS with the text "androidlost register". This will startup the app, get a google push key and send it to the web server. You should now be able to sign in on Android Lost and start the alarm.

Tough break. I'd recommend at least changing your Google password right away, so that the thief can't access anything from your Google account.

Jim I could not find the way to push android lost to my N7 after installing it on my N4.
Guess I am a bit frustrated here at the Barnes and Noble Cafe. I also tried Lookout Security/Plan B and had the same problem.

Think I will go walk the Mall to clear my head and try again .when I get home . from my laptop.

Gosh I miss my tablet so very very much.

Google changed the permissions allowed for applications that have been installed by pishing them via the Play Store "install to device" function.

Apps are required to be opened by the user at least once before they can be started through the BroadcastReceiver/Intent system, such as a text message being received.

Pushing apps such as androidlost or Plan B by Lookout will most likely not work out.

I lost/had stolen my Nexus 7 about a month ago. I contacted Google and they advised as others have. Change your Google account password(s). I took the extra step of changing other passwords (ex. Yahoo email, Facebook, etc) as well. I miss my N7 and will likely replace it if/when an updated device is released this year.

I ust do not understand this generation and their lack of honesty either. I have found magazines, eyeglasses, sunglasses, etc in the rest room and I always take them to the reception desk figuring that is the first place the owner will check.
I have been hoping the thief will return ny N7 bright and early Monday morning. I posted signs offering "a reward ... no questions asked" on Friday at work so perhaps the crook will prefer the cash to me beloved N7.

i don't pick up anything from the restroom.

When do you all think the next generation N7 3g will be released?
Will I have to wait until July -- the one year anniversary?

If I'm not mistaken, Google shows off the new Nexus devices during the last part of the year. I'd say we're looking at late 3rd qrt or early 4th.

So sorry to hear this. A sad way to learn to keep things in the purse if in a public place. Is this specifically an employees restroom? Can you go to your HR and report this if so? You could offer a reward. Post a sign on bulletin board.
Bad karma to the jerk who stole from you.

Why did you have your tablet out in a public restroom? Eww. Sorry the person who found it didn't do the right thing.

I don't know if you are just trolling since there always has to be one in the bunch ...
... but I have to go to the restroom during my 9 or 10 hours at work. You may be able to hold to that long but I can't.
I was in the kitchen eating my lunch and reading on my tablet and the urge hit me.
I did NOT think it smart to leave the tablet on the kitchen table so I took it with me when I went to the restroom.
