AC Question

My Note 3 keeps saying that the dock is connected when its not connected to anything. It also wont charge.

my phone randomly started saying that the back is connected when nothing was connected in it. it keeps saying that the dock is connected when I am charging it as well. I haven't dropped my phone and it hasn't gpt wet or anything. I connected the usb to the laptop to download my photos incase my phone stops working but nothing is happening, except that it is charging, but disconnects a little. it also keeps saying that I need to download an app so that I can share power and I have no idea what that means because I don't want it to share power.
any advise on how I could get it to charge again? and how to get it to stop saying that the dock is connected (when its not)?

Galaxies are dumb... my galaxy s6 just started saying dock was connected as well, i hope it's not broke.

Did this happen to you last November with the last update? Cuz thats when did happen to me and sometimes its just sitting there and it'll start coming on and off on and off with a rainbow screen but he won't charge with the USB charge port at all just fly laying it on the charge pad.

Re: my note 3 keeps saying that the dock is connected when its not connected toanything and wont cha

So this started happening to me yesterday, i believe after the samsung applications updated and updated but to my S4. So i followed what you guise said, uninstall the update didnt work and still doesn't charge well. I updated my phone to the 5.0 OS to see if that would work still nothing. To top it off when I updated out of the blue my dropbox stops working. A pop up comes up sayin dropbox has stop and when i click ok it comes up again. This happened every minute. I need help

Not sure about the your Dropbox issue but after last update it says connected to charge. Turns itself on and off on and off with an audible tone in a rainbow screen now I can't even use the charge port only laying it on the charger pad.

Re: my mobile keeps saying that the dock is connected when its not connected toanything and wont cha

please my phone is off need to be charged but it keeps saying the dock is connected what should i do? :(

I had the same issue, no charging, no USB connection with PC, etc. I reset my phone and the problem continued.
But I found a solution in this video. The language is portuguese, but here is the idea:

FIRST, turn off the phone and REMOVE THE BATTERY. Take an old cable you charge your phone (must be for the same connector type), and remove the exterior structure of the connector point - this means it will not work again, so use an old one or a spare. You will see the connector metal points are like small hooks. Use these hooks to clean gently the phone connectors. After doing it, blow it or use a vacuum cleaner to remove any dirt, put the battery back and try charging or connecting to PC.
It worked for me!!

***UPDATE*** Instead of smashing a cable, just use a pin or a needle to clean the connectors. Be careful and don't forget to remove the battery first.

This worked for me on my note 3. Carefully bend the prongs up inside the charge port of the phone itself. Turn the phone with the screen facing upwards and use a tip of a skinny tool, I used a tiny pearing knife tip and just bend the bottom prongs that you see right on the opposite side of the back case upward towards the screen a tiny bit. Take the battery out too. I thinks it's just the prongs get loose kind of like a USB plug does on a computer over time. I hope this works for you. None of the other things I've seen worked. Resetting phone, different charger etc.

Warning: very long post (I just don't know what slight detail might be useful for someone, please forgive me.)

EDIT/UPDATE/CONFIRMED FIX: It's the bloody ******* USB 3.0 Samsung cable. Use any "normal" Micro-USB (2.0) cable and see that it works fine. Apparently, I've heard that the 3.0 cables shipped with Samsung were faulty and you can (apparently) call Samsung and they'll ship you a free, "working" 3.0 cable. I haven't tested this myself. Good luck everyone. Also try the toothbrush thing to clean the "oxydides" in case that works.

09/03/2016: Note 3 got the "Dock is now connected." message and charging going in and out. While in, I jacked with the plugged in cable and confirmed connection was really solid. Must be software. Uninstalled last few apps, including particularly PlentyofFish (breakup, give me a break). And it went away and now its charging perfectly fine. Based on my experience, it seems like it's definitely software. Hope this helps someone and thank you all for helping me.

It popped back up again. I am officially back to square 1. Sorry. Halp.

It still seems to be working more or less fine. It threw a fit that made charging almost impossible just before I posted. It's frustrating because it's inconsistent. I will now try cleaning the port.

Cleaned the port with a paper clip. When I first turned my phone back on it wouldn't charge at ALL and I panicked that I damaged my pins. But after unplugging and re-plugging everything in back to the wall port, it came up and has been smooth since. We'll see how it goes.

It seemed to charge relatively well. That dock thing maybe popping up one more time but not interfering at all with my charging to full.

Then, today, it came back with a vengeance. I tried clearing cache partition this time, to no avail. I read somewhere that, for those this might help, that you can disable the notification sound from the "dock" bull**** by going to Settings > General > Accessories > Uncheck "Dock" sound...thing whatever, you'll find it.

Then, I read that you should take out your battery and let it sit for about 30 minutes before trying again. Might have something to do with static build-up I'm guessing. Maybe for when it's cold. I tried that and it seems to have been working relatively well for the last 15 minutes. Will update if needed.

NOTE: For those who don't know. If you have this dock notification problem and it's preventing you from charging, there's about a 99% chance you can charge without ANY problems IMMEDIATELY by simply charging with your phone off. Maybe until you figure this out, that might help some more desperately ****ed users.

It started happening again 3 minutes after I re-inserted my disconnected-for-30-minutes-battery. This is disgusting.

My note 3 also show this today after updating some app from appstore, before 3 months this problem was occurred but I changed my cable nd charger nd it works for few months but sometimes it shows so

This time I reboot my device nd took out my battery nd leaved it for few min, nd cleaned my port little bit nd took my battery in again nd put it in charge in switch off nd I opened it in some time nd the phone doesn't show up again, it's all good now.

Dear friend,
Turn off your phone, remove the battery then squeeze it with a dry towel. Slam the phone's battery side in the dry towel. May be The problem will gone for ever.

The following way helped me on my samsung s3

Turn off the device.
Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time:
Volume Up key
Home key
Power key
When "GALAXY Note 3" appears on the screen, let go of the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.
When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
Press the Volume Down key to highlight wipe cache partition.
Press the Power key to select and wipe the cache.
With reboot system now highlighted, press the Power key to restart the device.
