My Note 8 will not turn on

This is late and probably outdated, but back in the day, the recommended reset procedure for Android was to do the Reset/Restore option followed by a Clear Cache option and repeat that procedure 3 times before doing the Reboot option. Sounds a bit excessive and probably a bit OCD, but it makes sure all the 1's and 0's are cleared out. I always practice this procedure and typically have fairly good luck with a factor reset.

as gonzo points out, I always did those steps flashing ROMs back in Note 2,3,4 days

Okay has anybody had an issue where your phone says there's moisture in the USB port when there's not? Mine's doing that now it didn't do it beforehand I was able to charge it on the way to work and then at work fully with no problem I didn't get it wet in between then and now and when I plug it in now it immediately says moisture present and is a little water droplet icon

yep Amy, that was the exact problem I had, don't even bother trying to fix it yourself, I explored all avenues to no avail, your Note is going in for warranty repair and will be ok after

What's really dumb about it is I charged it during the day at work I didn't have problems then I factory reset it and now it decides well you've got moisture and I don't .frustrating

you can keep using it safely though, only pain is that when you want to charge it you need to shut it down first and the plug it in just as it starts up and it won't be fast charging

Mine started doing it in super dry sunny spain, same problem happened to a good few s8/s8+
You COULD reflash it yourself but I recommend sending it in for warranty

I am not doing anything out of the ordinary to this phone the only thing I did was factory reset I'm talking to T-Mobile now on the chat window

you didn't do ANYTHING wrong, it's a known error and 1st level support will be a waste of time, it needs to be reflashed properly not factory reset

T-Mobile told me to plug it into the charger cord and reboot it while it's plugged in. As soon as I plugged it in of course it said moisture code I rebooted it it actually took a little longer than expected to turn back on but once it did it seems to be fine now but I don't know if I should be holding my breath or not. I unplugged the cord and plugged it back in and there was still no error message

error message will come back... trust me.. the reboot while plugged in is just a temporary.. right here... right now.. workaround

That’s why I recommended doing the factory reset after your first one just because the reset sounded out of the ordinary and maybe not a clean recovery. No fact to back it up but for me i do it for peace of mind if I see the reload go smooth one time through.

I guess spending the last couple decades in tech field and have recovered my fair share of PCs... I had recovery’s fail only to redo it again and have it glitch free... but that’s Microsoft for ya.

Tmpbile is arranging me a warranty exchange. With them I go to the tmobile local store when the replacement arrives, and exchange mine for it.

Good deal. That's why I always buy from carriers and not directly through Samsung or any other company. It's just easier and quicker to get insurance and exchange through the carriers.

Last night I went to charge it and it decided to start that Moisture thing again. I rebooted this morning and it's charging again. I have to reboot the phone just to be able to charge it. I'm not sure how long the replacement takes but will see. I do have an Lg V20 backup for the time being, but doing what I can to keep using the Note for now.

nothing wrong with keep using it, it's just a pain in the h0le having to restart every time you charge, problem hasn't returned on mine since I got it back

What's really weird is when I plug it in to charge it I can feel it pulsating almost like a heartbeat but no charge indicator comes on and it won't turn on. When I get to work I will try the force reset at my desk
I've had to do this more than once. It's very frustrating to say the least. I know the phone is on because the notification light is blinking and it will pulse when a new notification comes in as I keep my phone on vibrate 99% of the time so I'm thinking if others are doing this maybe it's a hardware issue? I shrugged it off the first time, 2nd time I'm getting ticked off and now it's happened about 4 or 5 times since I got it in Sept.

since you still have the phone, try and go.. settings - apps - system apps and delete data in USB
