The homescreen widget helps but wish I could use ok google for anywhere

ok.. I'm kinda confused, when you say anywhere.. do you mean while in apps too.. or do you mean on any home screen? I use the google launcher and I can use "OK Google" from any home screen, but not in apps.

From anywhere at all in the phone, whether the screen is off or on.

I've never been able to do that on my S6.. Maybe I didn't have it setup correctly. Damn! If i had know that, id of used it more. So yes i agree, that needs to come back.

Yesterday I set up voice commands on my S6 under Google/Google Now. Under settings there was an opportunity to select whether you want the voice recognition just from within Google or "from any screen". I opted for "from any screen"had the "from any screen". Today no matter what I do it is just not available - the ONLY option shown is from within Google. The 'voice training' is gone, option for any screen is gone and I cannot get it back no matter what I tried.

I have tried it with TouchWiz, Nova launcher and Google Now launcher - same problem. I have tried English (US) English (Canada) and English (UK) as default language all to no avail.

I have seen that others in other forums have the same issue so it is NOT just me, but so far no answers.

Yesterday when it was "working" I definitely saw that the function was sporadic, sometimes worked, sometimes not. But now I can't even select that option.

Makes me think that someone rolled out some sort of update and broke it....

I have had the samsung galaxy s6 edge probably longer than anyone cause T-Mobile sent it to me March 31st and "Ok Google" was working fine from any screen just like it did on my S5. Now it is gone and I really miss it, I have to actually press on the Google search bar to make it work. It has to be an update that Google did cause it worked previously on my galaxy S6 Edge, but now its gone. I hope they get enough complaints and bring it back very soon cause it is the app I use the most.

This is still strange. Mine is still working without issue. At this point, I have no idea why mine still works. I use while driving, sitting at my desk, sitting at my couch, and it prompts me everytime

It's mostly back! Will only work while screen it's off if charging though.

Never mind. Once I trained it, the option to have it work from any screen disappeared again.

It had me retrain it and began working. Maybe try uninstalling the updates and then reinstall them?

I just noticed that OK Google feature has been reenabled on my Galaxy S6 this morning ! It wasn't working for the longest time and now suddenly reappeard

Same with mine. "OK Google" is woking from any screen but I'm using Nova launcher which has that feature. When I tried it with Touch Wiz, it worked only from Google Now screen.

Is this OK google feature with the Google Launcher or is it a separate app? Saying OK Google on my S6 only works on any of my home screens while phone is on. No-where else.
