Phone is reported stolen

I purchased my unlocked ATT Samsung Galaxy S4 from Frys Electronics in AZ back in November
Installed a SIM card from Tecel (Mexico) it has worked great for almost 4 months, a few days ago it stopped making calls and giving the message mm#6 which means the phone has been reported as stolen. Tried a different sim still get the same mm#6 message. Anyone have any idea what to do... ?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Phone is reported stolen

Or, if the phone really is reported stolen*, contact Frys for a refund (return shipping at their expense). Fraud - even if you're not aware you're a party to it - is a crime. And they won't want to be involved in this one.

*Someone trades in a phone for the $100 or so credit towards a new phone. He waits a few months, then reports it stolen, puts in an insurance claim and gets a new phone for the co-pay - which is about the credit he got. So he now has 2 phones for the price of one, and you have nothing. It's a new twist on what I've called the Craig's List Scam for a long time. (People sell phones on Craig's List, then report them stolen.)

Re: Phone is reported stolen

Ah....I read the post to mean that the phone was a new one for AT&T. I thought it seemed strange. In that case, I thoroughly agree with Rukbat's first paragraph.

Re: Phone is reported stolen

Thank s for the advice... First let me say I'm a smart phone novice...this is my first one.
I read the link in the first post but don't understand who my provider is.. My phone is an ATT phone but it's was unlocked. When I purchased it the salesman told I could any carrier I wish, o I installed the SIM card from my old phone which worked great for 3 months., so who is my provider ATT or Telcel who's SIM card I'm using...? I would think Telcel. ? But they it's the phone that's blacklisted not the sim.
Would a huge eltronices retailer like Frys sell a used phone as a new one... ?

Re: Phone is reported stolen

If it wasn't stolen then it might have the null imei problem. You can contact Samsung and they will give you a warranty replacement

To check if your IMEI # nulled dial : *#06# , if you see nulled or 0000.

But att might not allow it.
