My phone isn't recognizing my back camera!

I have a Motorola Atrix HD and every camera app is always default set at the front facing and will not rotate to the back camera. I tried my stock camera app where you press the button to reverse the view of your camera but it simply stays transparent and will not move when i click it. Is it something with permissions? someone please help.
