My phone mic cuts off when plugged into car stereo aux

[Android Central Question]

Hi.I have a Huawei P20 which has the usb-c socket rather than a 3.5mm. I have the phone plugged into the 3.5mm aux socket in my car. Music audio is absolutely fine with no issues.However,when making or receiving calls the phones mic doesn't work and I have to use the phones speaker.The call comes through he cars speakers but the phone mic just doesn't work.Am I missing something i.e a setting change?

Welcome to Android Central! Just to be clear -- you're using a USB-C-to-3.5 mm cable? Or is it a USB-C cable along with some kind of USB-C-to-3.5 mm adapter?

At the moment I am using a usb-c to 3.5mm female adapter then a 3.5mm male from adapter into my car stereo

My guess is that it has something do with the adapter. See if you can find a USB-C to 3.5 mm male cable, like this one: https://www.amazon.com/VIMVIP-Adapt...ag=hawk-future-20&ascsubtag=UUacUvbUpU6546181
