my phone no longer has any service. its not the sim card

[Android Central Question]

My phone lost service a few days ago with no warning or prior problems. I've tried it with two different sim cars and neither work in the phone but work just fine in different phones. When I search for a network it comes up with ''error while searching for network''
I've tried resetting my phone and resetting the network. When I click on sim status it says ''unknown'' under network and basically acting like there isn't a sim card in there.
I've got a G6 plus

Which carrier? You try reset the APN?

Welcome to Android Central! Did you try Safe Mode as well? https://support.motorola.com/uk/en/solution/MS129282. Also, make sure the SIM reader slot is clean -- use a can of compressed air to blow it out.
