You should really have your carrier turn off service though. The longer you wait, the more time whoever stole it can use it and possibly hike up your bill.

i stopped the sim card but i want a way to find my android phone in maps with my phone serial number

You could install an app remotely but that requires service on the phone unless you already had one of those apps installed.
